Angwar Keep is a fort in eastern Thrane on the Orien trade road between Olath and Aruldusk. It lies east of the Burnt Wood and looks over the Brey River at the dead-gray mist of the Mournland.[1][2][3]
History
Standing at the border of Cyre during the Last War, Angwar Keep suffered frequent attacks, which left many of its walls damaged and breached.[3]
In early spring of 980 YK, a force of living and undead Karrnathi legions under General Vedim ir'Omik seized Olath and laid siege to Angwar Keep. But the small Thrane garrison held firm, thanks to strong walls and stronger bravery. After a whole year without success, Vedim declared victory anyway and returned upriver to Korth.[4]
While the war raged, a group of warforged serving Cyre felt unappreciated and abused by their commanders, and defected. One by one, they crossed the Brey and arrived at Angwar Keep, where they swore their loyalty to Thrane. Initially, the Thrane solders were wary, but over time they came to accept them as they proved themselves.[3]
On the Day of Mourning in 994 YK, the flash on the battlefield on the opposite side of Cyre was so bright it blinded soldiers at Angwar Keep.[5]
By 998 YK, work had started on repairing its walls.[3] However, on Vult 3rd, misshapen giants from out of the Mournland assaulted the fort. They were over 20 feet (6.1 meters) tall, described as "twisted" or "melted" in appearance, and numbered over twenty members. They hurled boulders, wrecked the fortifications still under construction, and killed at least twenty Thrane soldiers before being repelled by the garrison and the warforged. At dusk, the remaining giants retreated and swam across Lake Arul, and at last sighting were heading toward Eston in the Mournland. Afterward, the commander doubled the garrison and increased patrols along the road in both size and frequency. The event was reported in the Vult 8th issue of Sharn Inquisitive.[6]
Inhabitants
The fort has a stalwart garrison of 80.[3]
Among the garrison are the Redeemed, seven elite warforged fighters who defected from Cyre. They are indefatigable guards and skilled workers. Currently, they work on the reconstruction, but their future after it is finished is unclear.[3]

Angwar Keep is nicknamed in eastern Thrane as the Stubborn Shieldmaiden because it has never fallen to any enemies. The fort has come to be inhabited by an order of warforged monks that style themselves as disciples of the Redeemed.[7]
